may rent a car.*

DAY 1:   Look around Perth, perhaps including some of the beaches from Cottesloe to Scarborough on the North side of the Swan River.

DAY 2:    Drive to Freemantle and take an early morning ferry to Rottnest Island where you'll find it best to hire a bike if you want to see most of the island.  You can book the ferries in Perth, but the trip is much faster from Freemantle which you'll also want to look around.

DAY 3:    Drive via Mandurah to Bunbury and stay at the Bunbury Motel at 45 Forrest Avenue - phone 08 97217333.

DAY 4:    Make an early start and visit the underwater observatory at the end of Busselton Jetty.  Travel via Margaret River, the Brookman Highway, Stewart Road, Pemberton, Manjimup, Walpole and Denmark to Albany.  Stay two nights there at the Ace Motor Inn, 314 Albany Highway - phone 08 98412911.

DAY 5:   Explore the Albany area and be sure to see the Gap and Natural Bridge etc.

DAY 6:    Make an early start and drive via Ravensthorpe to Esperance.where you should stay two nights at the Esperance Beachfront Resort, at 19 The Esplanade - phone
08 90712513.  Take the circuit drive via Pink Lake and the beaches to the West of Esperance as you come into town.

DAY 7:   Spend all day seeing the beautiful beaches at Cape Le Grand National Park.

DAY 8:   Travel via Norseman and Kambalda to Kalgoorlie and stay the night at the Midas Motel, 409 Hannan Street - phone 08 90213088.  Try to see the sights that afternoon as you'll need to make an early start the next day.

DAY 9:   Travel via Coolgardie to Southern Cross and
take the turn off to Marvel Loch beside the Palace Hotel.
Just 4 Km before Marvel Loch the road has a long curve
to the left, but you should continue straight ahead on the
good gravel road following the signs to Hyden. Visit
Muka's cave (where you'll see Aboriginal rock paintings)
and the world-famous Wave Rock just before Hyden.
Continue via Kondinin and Corrigin to Brookton - a 2 Km
detour. Then stay the night at Swann Lodge which is at
2 Newcastle St, York - phone 08 9641 2044.

DAY 10:   Drive to Northam and stroll there by the banks
of the Avon River.  Then continue to Toodyay where you should visit the Museum in the old gaol and the Cola Cafe.  Then take the Toodyay Road back to Perth where you may wish to stay another night or two.  Visit the Noble Falls and enjoy the Swan Valley near Midland.

* Note that Bayswater Car Rentals are closed on Saturday afternoons and Sundays, so you may need to use buses in Perth if you arrive on a Saturday afternoon. You could then take the Rottnest Island ferry from Perth instead of Freemantle on the Sunday.  Alternatively, this trip could be done on a Saturday at the end of the holiday if you return to Perth on a Friday afternoon and intend to fly home on the Sunday.
